Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of frequently asked questions and answers that you might useful. If you have any questions that are not shows below, please email us at garydennis@kdtraining.co.uk

Is there an age limit to joining? No is the simple answer. For the more senior programmes like the Diploma in First Line Management and Diploma in Management and Leadership there are entry requirements. You need to be at least 21 and been working for two years full time employment.

Do I need any previous qualifications to join?
Not necessarily. The Team Leader programmes do not require previous qualifications as long as it can be proven that you will benefit from your programme. For the Diploma in First Line Management and Diploma in Management and Leadership you normally need either “O” or “A” levels respectively. However, you may join any programme based on your experience - as indeed many people do.

Do I have to be working to complete a programme? It is obviously advantageous to be in a job, however, we have special assignments for people who are currently no working so you can still complete. The last person to do this completed in February 2010.

When can I join a programme?
Just about any time you like! All programmes are run on a unit basis and one is held each month, therefore, you can join any month. You can also join halfway through a programme and complete your studies in the following programme.

How long does it take? The Diploma in First Line Management normally takes around 8 months and the Diploma in Management and Leadership around 12 months.

How much work is involved?
There are about 8 pieces of written work for each programme. Each piece is around 2-3000 words which is not as much as you might think. The Diploma in Management and Leadership has a management project of around 5000 words. You are given about 4 weeks to complete piece and 3 months for the management project. How long it takes to do each piece depends on who you are and how well motivated you are to complete!

How is my work assessed? Your work will initially be marked by one of our assessors and then sampled by a moderator from our organisation. The whole of your work will be moderated and agreed by a verifier from the Chartered Management Institute. We have never had anyone not succeed when it reaches the CMI verifier stage since we started 8 years ago.

What happens if I miss a workshop or some work? No worries! We will allocate you a personal tutor who will plan with you the work you need to do and plan when you will do it. Although we provide you with completion dates, these are not set in concrete.

Can I pay for my programme in instalments?
Yes, provided you are paying your own fees as opposed to your company paying.

What happens if I do not complete the whole programme on time?
Each programme is split into 3 different pieces so you will receive one of them, depending on how much you have completed. So, you left the country for example and had completed 2 units, you will get accreditation for that from the CMI and receive appropriate certificates. If you simply don’t complete for personal reasons or some work issues, we will discuss with you how you can complete.
