Level 3 in First Line Management

Who are these qualifications for?

The level 3 qualifications in First Line Management are designed for supervisors and first line managers who wish to build on and develop their existing management skills and knowledge. These qualifications are derived from the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership and are accredited on the UK national qualifications frameworks.

Units available to study at Level 3 include:

Unit 3001 - Personal Development as a first line manager
Unit 3002 - Resource Planning
Unit 3003 - Meeting Stakeholder Needs
Unit 3004 - Managing and Communicating Information
Unit 3005 - Developing Individuals and Teams
Unit 3007 - Maintaining Quality Standards
Unit 3008 - Improving Team Performance

What is the format of the level 3 programme?

The Level 3 programme is split into 3 parts:

Award - The level 3 Award in First Line Management is a concise qualification, giving you an introduction to the skills, roles and responsibilities of first line management. It enables you to strengthen and develop your basic knowledge of this management are through focusing on specific skills development.

To achieve the Chartered Management Institute Award in First Line Management, you need to complete at least one unit with a minimum value of 6 credits.

Certificate - The level 3 Certificate in First Line Management is a more extensive qualification which allows you to broaden your knowledge of effective management skills and techniques whilst still maintaining the flexibility to focus on the specific management elements appropriate to both you and your organisation.

To achieve the Chartered Management Institute Certificate in First Line Management, you need to complete any combination of units to a minimum total of 13 credits.

Diploma - The Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management is a more comprehensive structured qualification providing you with the key management skills and techniques to enable you to operate effectively as a first line manager. This qualification allows you to develop a wide range of management competencies.

To achieve a Chartered Management Institute Diploma in First Line Management, you need to complete units 3001, 3002, 3003, 3004 and 3005 plus at least two other units to a minimum total of 42 credits.

How are these qualifications assessed?

Assessment is through written worked-based assignments of around 2,000 words, written and marked by tutors at KD Training Solutions.

How long will it all take?

The time it takes to complete your qualifications depends on the units you choose and the time you have to dedicate to them but normally the following applies:

Award - can take as little at 4 weeks
Certificate - can take around 3 months
Diploma - normally takes around 8 months

What support will you get?

Whilst learning with us you will find the support you get unprecedented. You can discuss issues at our monthly workshops, by telephone, email or tutor visits. All of your work may be submitted in draft format and examples completed by previous learners are available for you to look at. There is also a website that is dedicated to our learners and it can be accessed 24/7.

Progression opportunities

On completion of the Award, you may progress to the Certificate and then onto the full Diploma. Alternatively, you may enrol for any of the 3 levels after discussion with one of our specialist tutors. Following completion of the full Diploma in First Line Management, you may progress to the Level 5 in Management and Leadership and receive a 20% discount on your fees.
